New Music Reading Session, CMSA Kalamazoo: Call for Scores
The Classical Mandolin Society of America (CMSA) will hold a “New Music Reading Session” at its upcoming convention in Kalamazoo, Michigan, September 21-25, 2022. This is the "Call for Scores".
Specifically, the CMSA is interested in receiving submissions of new works for mandolin orchestra, from which a selection will be read through by an ensemble of convention participants conducted by Dr. Jim Bates, Director of Orchestral Activities at Otterbein University, Columbus OH, and the CMSA’s “En Masse” orchestra conductor. Student composers and others new to writing for mandolin orchestra are welcome to apply; we are especially interested in receiving submissions from women and under-represented minorities, in accordance with the CMSA's "Mandolins Make a Difference" initiative.
There is no entry fee, and selected composers will receive a modest honorarium. Terms and conditions are described in the attachment.
Questions? Follow the instructions in the attachment (or post here, if of a general nature).
