Just curious - why is this an "Irish" bouzouki rather than just a bouzouki?

there's a greek version too!
Nice to see you here too, bobbymandolin! I think we chatted before on Reddit.
The Irish bouzouki has a flat back and soundboard, like the one he's playing in the video. The traditional Greek bouzouki (from which the Irish one was developed in the 1960's), has a bowlback and a bend in the soundboard, like a Neapolitan mandolin. Some older Greek bouzoukis only have 3 courses too, with the 4 course version being developed later.
For comparison:

I’m 62 years old and I’m still curious too!
I’m just wondering if it’s possible that labels can be (and often are, sometimes) used to justify selling things (including ideas but other things too, like pieces of material with pretty colors on them) that can end up with people getting so high that they feel like they’re inside the Sun, or 15 of them, (but hotter) and then it’s a bad trip for lots of people.
Thanks Jo - I guess it's a bit like "red setter" vs. "Irish setter" since here in Ireland we would just refer to bouzouki or greek bouzouki. When I was a dog trainer at an animal shelter in the States I asked a co-worker where the red setter was that had just come in, as I needed to do a behaviour evaluation. They looking at me perplexed - "Red setter? What's that?" I gave her more details about the dog's background (a stray that wandered into the public library) and then she's like "OH! You mean the IRISH setter...."
