Thread: Floor stand for octave mandolin

Default Floor stand for octave mandolin

Anyone have a floor stand that works well with an octave mandolin? I have a Gold tone om800 and the body is a bit too thick to fit my mandolin or electric guitar stands.

I've never used it with an OM, but I like this stand for use with both electric and acoustic guitars.

It fits in a simple ukulele stand but is not so secure. Or in my classical guitar stand, which can be adjusted in width and the covering makes the mandolin stay without sliding

Question Re: Floor stand for octave mandolin

Irish Zouk is Octave .. fits in a banjo case.. so guitar stands are fine..

Ultimate brand & Hercules* hang the instrument from the head stock,
rest the back against 2 padded legs of the 3 of the base.

I guess I have had the Hercules 2-instrument stand for 15 years or so. You set it to the height you like so you can’t really go wrong. The only problem I’ve had is when well-intentioned people assume that you should set the instrument body on top of the lower supports (rather than against the back) then the upper pawls don’t flip into place to secure the peghead, and the whole thing can do a face plant. Which could ruin a friendship.

Hercules is absolutely the safest. If the peghead doesn't have wide enough ears to engage it, then the Ultimate is sure to hold it, but it's not as rock solid as the Hercules.

Ultimate Support makes a bunch of different stands redly available everywhere on line. I have a bunch of them and use them on gigs all the time.https://www.ultimatesupport.com/products/gs-200

Another vote for Hercules. I’ve had their 3 instrument stand for 4 or 5 years and it works with all of my instruments from electric bass to soprano uke (and including OM). The only down side is that mine does take up more floor space than the blue one above. But, it also holds 3 vs 1. FWIW, it’s also stable even with just one instrument on it (even just the e-bass or tele, which are my heaviest by far).

I've used K & M stands for many years, great stands.
