Thread: String buzz/rattle

    Default String buzz/rattle

I had an annoying buzzing/rattling sound when playing the A strings. After hours of checking and trying felt pieces wrapped around the strings under tailpiece cover and ordering harmonic suppression grommets, I finally identified the source of the sound, a loose adjusting screw on the bridge. I thought this might save somebody else from this hassle. Luckily it was a simple solution, though hard for me to find.

Thanks for sharing. Those buzzes can be tough to find.

I had a buzz on the mandolin from a loose screw on the pickguard attachment device. It annoyed the heck out of me and it took (me) quite a while to figure out where the disagreable noise came from. Playing an instrument will not only loosen you up it may also shake loose some parts on your instrument.
