Default Amp suggestions for an 18" scale 5 string?

Looking for both quiet practice amp as well as gigging amp for an incoming Mann octave 5 string.

Hoping for mostly a clean if tubey tone. While I don't have endless cash happy to hear every option.

Any amp can be a quiet practice amp – how loud do you need a gigging amp to be?

Sounds like you're in the Fender-ish camp, but why not head out to your local guitar shop and try some amps, see what's to your taste?

DV Mark Jazz 12 gets a lot of love for clean sound. Has a headphone jack and a volume control. 15 lbs, if weight matters.

FWIW, my original Roland Cube (5W, 5" speaker, selection of amp models + effects, 12-15 y/o) was a bit over $100, then, and sounds great w/ solid-body mandolin.... IMHO, of course! Loud enough for small gigs, quiet for home -or- plug-in headphones. Plus, six AA batteries last forever: over a year at 3~ hours per week, or plug in wall-wart.

Good question, probably just gigging for a small room as anything bigger would be mic'ed .... if I start playing big rooms [unlikely] then a big old classic amp fits the bill and I will have a lot more experience to amp shop with.

For now it's just quiet practice at home or home jams with friends [none of whom are drummers, so volume levels are moderate].

I appreciate all the comments, probably should have mentioned that I'm willing to spend in the $300-600ish range - I'd love to find something that I might not need to upgrade, as I've spent enough upgrading equipment already.

Thank you all for your suggestions!
