I Did the online modern Mandolin workshop last weekend and really enjoyed it. It would’ve been great to be in person, but I think the online format still worked well. There are so many great players out there, and it was cool to get an introduction to them, since I’m pretty new to the mandolin game. Been playing guitar for a long time, but this mandolin business it’s really intriguing to me. It’s kind of a double edged sword it seems — The great players are really inspiring, but a part of me is saddened by the fact that I will never be able to play like them. I think that’s the age old issue— Balancing desire for improvement, time spent on the instrument (which means time away from other things), expectations, goals, and The sheer joy of playing music.
I guess it’s the journey that we all go through.
