    Default Washburn serieal number 114030

    Greetings all,

My Washburn bowl back has a hand written serial number on the inside label in pencil - 114030 that doesn't seem to correspond to anything on the Washburn website.

Does anyone know how to determine the age of this instrument by this serial number?

The mandolin is in great condition and I need to determine age and value.
    .
    Many thanks

Kudos to the guys at Appalachian Bluegrass Shoppe of Catonsville Maryland. The mandolin is model # 115 made in 1911 with Brazilian Rosewood. Great shop strewn with high-end beautiful instruments and the two friendly and knowledgeable gentlemen were very helpful. Thanks guys!

Your hand written number may have been a catalog number for one of the mail order companies. Get a copy of Hubert Pleijer's "Washburn Prewar Instrument Styles". The current company that owns the Washburn name has nothing to do with the company that built your mandolin.
