I have a Singer sewing machine that’s been in the family since 1938. I rewired/cleaned it for an EBay sale then found out that my daughter-in-law would like to have it . Want to keep it in the family as long as possible. Now I want to make the case look nice again.

It’s pretty rough. Looks to be mahogany. Problem I need advice on is the breaks in the wood as seen in photos. I’m thinking some form of streaming and clamping. I have a handheld steamer (works well for removing straight dovetail necks that won’t seat)
Thanks in advance for you help.
