Fifteenth Anniversary of the Death of Charlie Derrington
I believe that Charlie Derrington passed 15 years ago today. August 1, 2006.
I suppose that many Cafe users don't know about the great contributions he made to this community, and to the revival of top notch mandolin making from Gibson.
I did not know the man personally but a quick search of his posts here will give some sense of the person and his impact here, at Gibson, and in the world of those who love the instrument.

Without diminishing anything else he did, fixing Bill Monroe’s mandolin put him in the ‘hall of fame’ by itself. A great luthier. RIP
