Default Any idea what make/model this is?

    Hello everyone,
My dad had a bunch of instruments, he was a banjo player but had some mandolins that he had but never played. Do any of you happen to know what make this would be and year? Thanks so much, appreciate your help.

The flange looks to me like the work of Bacon & Day, although I do not recognize the peghead shape. But that doesn't necessarily bother me. I don't remember seeing any B & D mandolin banjos, but I would not expect them to have the same sort of peghead as a 4 or 5 string banjo. They would have had to use a different shape to accommodate mandolin tuners.

My guess would be that this is a B & D product built sometime between 1920 and 1930. If you can remove the resonator and give us a picture of the inside of the banjo, it will help to confirm its identity.

You might want to go to Banjo Hangout for more info on this instrument and any other old banjos that your father owned.

I have a later model B&D Silver Bell Sultana tenor with very similar flange holes, so I would agree with rcc56. I have seen earlier B&D MBs and IIRC even ones labeled Silverbell.

There is a B&D branded MB here on this Reverb page.
