    Default Highland Rim

Here's a tune I learned two weeks ago while at fiddle camp in NC. I decided to record it yesterday. This was my first time actually filming while I record into the computer, previously I would record, then film later. I think I like this better, but I need a better camera set up

    Good multi-tracking, Gunnar.

Still kind of waiting. It would make this thread so much more compelling if it was not only a musical statement. As in many musical documentaries there is something to learn when and if you’re told not only how the music came about but also how the recording process went.

    Thanks y'all!!

Grassrootsphilosopher, sorry, I don't get on this site that much anymore, so it takes a while before I see something on here.
My setup is an Audio Technica At2020 running into a Presonus Audiobox USB interface, and from there into Reaper on my laptop. That's it for the audio. For this video, I had my phone filming me while I recorded the audio, and I put that together with the good audio in VSDC free video editor. That software is very limited, but simple and intuitive (mostly) and does everything I need.

If you have any other questions or comments let me know and I'll probably respond in a couple weeks when I think to get on here again lol

I agree…what’s up with that funky fiddle?
(To be clear, I think that fiddle looks great, and sounds great, just not normal )

I am guessing it was built by Murray Kuun of S. Africa: https://murraykuun.wordpress.com/violins/

hah! I was right! I just looked at the YouTube comments and Gunnar verified it was made by Kuun.

Thanks y'all!! The fiddle was in fact made by Murray Kuun, (who happens to be a member here, which is how I met him) in South Africa!
