Default Born on the 4th of July!

This morning I looked at the label of my new-to-me Pomeroy A5 and lo and behold-
she was born on the 4th of July!
I’m early on this mandolin road and its amazing what a fine instrument can do for your soul.

And a Happy Independence Day to American friends.
Robert Johnson's mother, describing blues musicians:
"I never did have no trouble with him until he got big enough to be round with bigger boys and off from home. Then he used to follow all these harp blowers, mandoleen (sic) and guitar players."

Hi Gene! That was my Pomeroy! I traded it (plus cash) for my Red Diamond A-5 in February. It's a great sounding mandolin. Neck was a little thick for me....that was my only complaint.

Hi Chris- Thanks for the info! I thought someone would step forward and say- hey, that was my mandolin! Im a newer player and Im really enjoying it. I call it Pops after Louis Armstrong, who claimed he was born on July 4 1900.

The line "born on the Fourth of July" is usually quoted from I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy by George M. Cohan.

However, despite his claim, Cohan was born July 3, 1876, one day before the American centennial. Which wouldn't have made as good a song lyric.

Stephen Foster, however, was born July 4, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, or the "semi-centennial." Two presidents who signed the Declaration, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, died on that date.
