    Default Weber scroll

Is it just me or does the scroll on this new Weber F-4 in the classifieds look kind of "wonky"?

    Wonky, yes.

It’s for a super thick strap loop/logging chain.

Pictures of the discontinued Weber Gallatin "sopranolin" showed a "hook" shaped quasi-scroll; however, when I bought one, it had a fully carved conventional scroll. I guess they were made both ways...?

The scroll is the “crotch” if you will, of an F style mandolin…. Some are hot, and some are not!

For a $6000 mandolin, IMHO, yes that is ¨wonky¨.

My thoughts too. Perhaps it has something to do with this....

the pictures are not taken "straight on" but more with a vector towards the headstock region, giving a slight angular view. its an optical illusion sort of thing. Webers have always had a more open scroll than other brands imo.

If anyone had this mandolin in hand, i doubt the scroll would draw your attention. The tone and tactile feel in the hand when played though, i think safe to say, would have your attention.

I don’t know, it looks a bit off in the beginning of the video too. I have always been a Weber fan and never before seen a Weber with a scroll of that poor quality. And the binding on the back of the scroll is a little better then the front. I looked at the Weber website just for a quick comparison and none are that open or have binding that rounded where the “eagle’s beak” should be… At least it sounded pretty good in the video.
