Religion and politics are two of the easiest ways I know to shut down a thread on this board.

This is a site about mandolins, plenty of other places to talk about those things.

My question was specific to Bluegrass players and the absence religion. Clearly you have a problem with that. If that offends you then maybe it is you that should move along. Also, as I have have stated in my opening post, there doesn't seem to be "other places" to talk about it in regards to where bluegrass musicians tend to frequent on social media. Either I am met with attitudes like yours or the post is simply denied altogether. I simply want to connect with other Bluegrass players who are non-religious, atheist / or agnostic. Is that a crime?

Seems to me like Austin Bob was trying to give you some friendly advice and that you are ready to argue.

I really don't understand you guys. I am not here to bash religion. I don't want to talk about religion at all, which is the point. I know that historically Bluegrass music is steeped in religion and gospel music, but statistically there have to be other players out there who don't participate in that aspect of it and i simply want to connect with them and maybe we can converse elsewhere. I really don't understand why this is resulting is so much vitriol.

    Vitriol? Hardly.
What they're trying to explain to you is that we're here to talk about mandolins and music. That's it. The topic has no place here. It has nothing to do with anyones' opinion either way regarding religion. I would suggest taking the friendly advice.

We actually have a set of Posting Guidelines that we operate under in this forum to avoid the "vitriol" that you seem to be finding.

Topics started for or end up being used to discuss religion, politics or sex as well as other hot button issues meant to create discord are prohibited. Posts or threads deemed inappropriate or unrelated to our subject matter are subject to immediate removal at the discretion of the forum owner and/or lead moderator.
The thread subject pretty much takes you into that realm.

I don't necessarily want to discuss it here or anywhere else for that matter. Again, that is the point. I simply want to connect with other like minded individuals that I know are out there. How is this a problem?

I'm not here to have that discussion but if you'd like to find like minded folks why not take a trip over to Facebook and create a group. You'll find like minded folks. Since you're not looking to discuss it there's no reason to continue this thread.
