That may be a record for number of people behind the desk. And with a bass - virtually another person.

I love this series! Somehow nearly every time the performers really bring it. I tried really hard to get on it through the contest last year, using a few different configurations. A clip from one entry did get included in a promo video, which was nice. My one second of "fame" - literally.

Cool. Was that a Kimble mando or mandola?

Mandola. It's pretty clear from the size. Then at 2:12 you see him playing what would be a G chord on a mandolin, but it's a C.

I love Tiny Desk. Very few Tiny Desk concerts do not appeal to me, and I find myself digging genres that I would not normally listen to. The Anderson .Paak for example. Favorites for me so far are Martin Hayes, Christian Scott, and since you mentioned lots of people behind the desk, Tower of Power.

    Warning! No mandolin content: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=IDksWTzZQ2c

Yikes! As much as the text says ten band members, I count only nine - and that's just eight behind the desk, one on top. But still, yes, we have a record winner!

I think The Roots tiny desk gets even more people at the end, all brass, no mando content!

The tuba player is really working hard

I should be pickin' rather than postin'

Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner! Once the vocalists show up, there are ten altogether! Good thing there weren't any guitarists or keyboard players!

Wel-l-l ... We're gonna need a ruling here. The trombone player is outside of the desk area, and the trumpet player is kind of borderline, too. I dunno. We're going to have to get someone with a copy of the rules and bylaws of this contest to provide us with the official definition of "behind" as it concerns the desk. This was an issue with The Roots, too, as Questlove's drum kit is partly in, partly out. And same issue with ToP's keyboard player. I dunno ...
