    The blade is 3.5mm thick (bit over 1/8") and pretty good steel. I found it somewhere when I was a boy and kept as "useful stuff".
    Arounf here soles of wooden planes are ususally made from hornbeam and I got some nice pieces after I copleted the plane just in case it needs replacement. I soaked the oak sole with thin CA and it doesn't seem to wear too much.
