    Default OM GDAd lesson

Our cousin's in the America's probably might not be familiar with Steve Knightly and Show of Hands, but they've done much to popularise CBOM's over here.

Just came across this lesson from Steve, which is very much his personal take on how to approach these instruments, and somewhat focussed on the Show of Hands songbook, but none the less there's a lot of interesting stuff in here. Things I picked up were 1) Steve drives the instrument pretty hard and 2) The key of Gm sounds amazing on OM.

Note that Steve calls these instruments mandocellos, even though his are in bouzouki-like GDAd tuning. Historically, the vintage instrument on which Steve's is based would have been tuned as a mandocello though, so make of that what you will

Love his rendition of “Romeo and Juliet”. I’ve seen a few of his videos lately ... enough to subscribe to the Show of Hands YouTube channel. Thanks for posting this one.
