There is this bowlback on our local market for the equivalent of 100 USD
I was thinking of buying it and do the repair. The photos attached are what I have for the moment, I did not have time yet to go and check it out.
The shrinkage on top is to the center glued line of the two parts top.
I know I have to insert a thin sliver of spruce into the gap and sand it to fit on the top.
I have a few questions:
Do I have to sand with extra fine sand paper the sides of the wood inside the gap.
Will I have to remove the tortoise shell pick guard and how do I do that.
Can I insert the silver of spruce and not use a clamp, to my knowledge there are bracings from the inside that should prevent the wood from sinking inside
And last and most important, any unexpected trouble I can run into

If it doesnt have any other serious issues and I can do the top repair myself, I just might go for it.
