I know this thread is about J74s, but I have to agree with the Curt Mangan strings' longevity, particularly the Monels.
It's worth mentioning if anyone with corrosive body chemistry is looking for something that might last longer. For that matter the Monels sound good too, albeit different from J74s of course, but good in their own less-brassy way.
