Default A Mandolin & Octave Mandolin duet: Big Hands

    Hi all!

Here's a song that I wrote about two years ago and used to perform with my now deceased band. I recorded it as a duet with my octave Weber Bitterroot and my Prucha F5.

    Hope you enjoy it!

    Best,

    Isaac

Great tune, thanks. Now if only I could work out all those double stops and chord progressions...

Thank you so much, guys! Realy appreciate your comments!

Barry Canada: About my setup, which is a pretty simple one, I used a Rhode NT1000 -the only mic that I have and use for everything- plus the internal K&K in the case of the octave (so the octave was recorded with these two mics, the F5 just with the Rhode). Then recorded with an oldish Mac from 2010 and an old Protools version (also not updated for around 10 years). Once recorded I EQ'd both instruments, compressed them and added a little bit of reverb.

Simon DS: In case you were serious, I'm attaching a pdf with the score of the song (melody and chord progression). It was already done for the other members of the band, so here it is.

A great tune and very fine recording and playing, Isaac. Thanks too for sharing the notation and the details of your recording set-up. I am still using Windows XP on an Advent laptop (with no internet connection as XP no longer supported) and a very old version of REAPER. Stick with what you know.
