Default Love the Vega cylinder back sound but can't afford one, options?

The title says it. I love how the 1910-1920s cylinder back Vega mandolin (mando-lute) sound, but most of them hover over $1500 and are out of my range.

Anyone knows of other vintage mandolins with similar sound characteristics that are more affordable? Weymann, Washburn, Strad-o-lin, etc? I imagine being an oval hole is part of the charm, so this is probably needed.

    Thanks!

I don't mean to be rude, but just save a little, reach out and get what you like. Don't go for second best. Has been my motto pretty much all my life. It works for me.

Consider trying out some Vega bowlback mandolins. I recently found a wonderful one for $400, and its sound is similar to yet better than a Vega cylinder back I used to own. I have not found it difficult to hold it steady as I play, something many players seem to worry about.
