Guitar sized strap buttons are plentiful but mandolin endpins are smaller in diameter than a guitar and so a strap button should be as well. Does anyone have a source for a smaller diameter screw in strap button?

I use these. Plan on replacing the screw with a smaller, shorter screw. I always use oval head slot drive stainless with the nickel buttons.

They are available but mostly in metal. I didn't like that, so I bought these. They are real ebony and will polish almost to a shine.
They are delivered without screws, so I bought some brass screws, which I "patinised" as the buttons were for an old mandolin.
On my ukuleles, I installed violin endbuttons, but they don't just screw in.

For non-metal choices, I like Iluak fine instrument fittings. Check their website. They have a nice variety and I love how you can get them without an exposed screw. Also, they have embellishments if you like, such as MOP. The tapping tool they give you is great for easy install.
I've used plain ebony buttons from Maury's. I've put these Stew-Mac Waverly buttons on a few mandolins, a mandola, OM, mandocello and several guitars.
Both of these work on guitars but are small enough to work well on mando's too.
