Default Molly Tuttle and Tristan Scroggins: Olympia, WA

Tuttle recorded a full-band version of this Rancid song from last century on her new album, but this is a great duo version. Scroggins rocks the rhythm backing her up, and then both of them totally shred during their breaks. The kids are alright!

I like this a lot more than the cd version! Plus: the rancid cd isn’t bad either 😀Thanks for posting!

The only trouble with Molly is she never looks like she's working at it.

Great performance! Plus we get to see Tristan smile. Twice! (02:00 / 04:39) What a rare treat!

Kicking myself for missing seeing Molly Tuttle with Ketch Secor (OCMS) when they came here a couple of weeks ago.

BTW, my A model is named Molly. Not for her, nor even a girl from high school; just blurted it out one night so I kept it. (It's a better but longer story which I've told before; search for it.) Suits it - kind of old school, down-home, unassuming, but full of heart and soul.

Sweet! Part of the reason mine is named thus - besides the qualities I mentioned, is just plain alliteration. The manner of naming, though, is a bit more complicated. The whole story is over at this appropriate thread. But it's a charming tale, so I'll reprise it for ya here.

One night after my weekly gig, someone asked me, "What do you call that?" Not, "what ya got there?" or "what is that, a ukulele?" or "what kind of guitar is that?" - "What do you call that?" I must have been a bit peeved about something - other than being asked that sort of question for the umpty-leventh time - and surely had a couple-few beers in me, because I said, a bit tersely, "Molly." It's a literal answer to the literal question. I quickly thought twice, and reverted to my default setting, which is kindness (and furthering mandolin consciousness), and explained what a mandolin is. I didn't think thrice about it and would have forgotten about it - in fact, did - but the pedal steel player came over and told me he just cracked up when he heard me say, "Molly." I guess I gave it a good, dry delivery. So the name has stuck. Indeed, when I got another one a few years later - similar vintage and finish - so I could swap out if I broke a string, which was happening all too often in the other band I was playing in then, I called her "Molly," too - or was it "Molly II?"

It's too bad that the girl from high school, Molly Campion, passed away years ago, and I never got the chance to tell her this story.

Looks like she’s wearing white boots to me, but they are hard to see…

My wife is a pianist and we’ve seen George Winston in concert a couple of times. He always plays in sick feet. And also doesn’t allow ice in drinks. I guess to reach that level of genius comes with some idiosyncrasies.

I’ll occasionally kick off flip flops when playing with the youth band in youth worship services, but not often. Just not one of things I think about…

Molly is wearing the matching guitar strap and boots ensemble. I believe she has a white pick too.

The shoes look pink to me. I was going to delete my post, but my computer crapped out, as usual. .

I don't perform barefoot. Or in sneakers. Or tee shirts. Or plaid. Or shorts. Or baseball hats. Sometimes I put on a real hat, though. Or cowboy boots. (Never both!)

Sick feet? Hm. The time I saw Winston, he was in a flannel shirt, jeans, and socks. A man's gottta do what a man's gotta do!

I'll put ice in tea, but never it water. Brr!

Yeah, when I realized she had shoes I was going to delete the post, but my computer crapped out, as is its wont.

The stage lighting on her has a rosy hue, which gives her white boots a slightly pink tone.
