Thread: Bassett Creek

    Default Bassett Creek

What's the bigger sin, that I'm not sure if this is Bluegrass or Old-time, or that I'm asking if anyone knows how to play a banjo song on mandolin? Crucify me for your reason of preference, but if anyone has some tabs or standard notation or chords or etc. I'd love to give it a shot.

    Thank you.

(PS I think it's bluegrass - if I'm wrong, lmk)

Its Oldtime banjo. He is playing in the clawhammer style as opposed to the "Scruggs" three finger roll style. I am not familiar with the artist so not sure if the tune is traditional or original. Nice tune.

Looks like it is a traditional tune, here is a video of Tim playing it in a gGDGD tuning.....

It would be easy to tune a mandolin GDGD and try to learn it by ear.
