If memory serves, Bill made that case too.

I wasn't able to access my laptop for a little while. Thank you Evan for posting the Halsey case photos.

Yessir, I played that one and remember the case! There is also a double case out there somewhere that he made for, I think, his F-4 and that F-5. The “Pockets” were about the right size for a bottle of Jack Daniels.
The thing was heavy as sin!

That upper left compartment does look like it would fit a square bourbon bottle. Very practical.

Maybe but, that’s not the “double case” I’m remembering.
And yes, it was a re working of a lap steel case.
I’ve been sharing beverages for more than half my life and, I would not have missed one second of the time for love nor money! I’ve few friends and Bill is on the top of the deck!

I haven't seen any recent posts from Mr. Halsey. Does anyone know if he is still building?

    Just noticed your post grommet,
Bill is only doing bows these days, his mandolins are now “collectible items” at least in my opinion. I was lucky to see his early builds and quite a few of his later ones as well. I’m also very lucky to call him my friend.

Thank you for the update Tim. Fine craftsmanship elevates all who touch, play or admire it.

I'm clearly bias about Bill's mandolins. Having said that, I haven't played another F5 that I would trade for the '77 Halsey. It has such a nice vintage vibe and tone. Hard to beat and records so very well. If you can find one of the 12 that have been built grab it with both hands imho.
