    Default Flatiron

    Hello all,
I found a flatiron that I want to purchase but I have some concerns. It says it is a Gibson flatiron A-5. However it says flatiron and not Gibson on the headstock. Also the serial number is 71129089. I don’t think Flatiron was established until after 71. So I’m not sure what to think. It has no binding on the back or around the fretboard or headstock. From what I have found it is a flatiron performer series. But the label says A-5. Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

My guess is that it’s a 1997 Flatiron A5, made after Gibson had purchased Flatiron in the late 80’s.

I think Pheff has it right. I think it was 1997 when they moved to the new Nashville numbering system.

Either that or it was made in China?
