    Default Resoldering k&k twin foot?

Hi all. I switched my k&k to another mando and must've pulled the wire a bit loose where it's connected to the treble 'foot'. Will simple soldering work to fix the short? As is, it does not work. When I hold the wire against the foot it works. Thanks!!

Well since it doesn't work now I would try and solder it. Be careful and use a good technique. It would actually be an open, not a short.

Soldering on piezos works. Maybe practice on something else first if you‘re not familiar or comfortable with the soldering process.

Thanks. That's what I was wondering. Whether solder would 'stick' to the piezo. And I also assume I'll have to strip the wire and redo the whole thing. So the question is, is there one or two wires (which I'll find out) and if there are two, can both be soldered together. Hopefully it's just one wire and a single connection but I'll know in a bit.

Be sure to tin the wire, if you strip it, before you solder it to the disc. If there is solder on it simply resolder it.

I think you can buy a single if it doesn't work for you, it should tho.

You may want to improvise a heat sink. Piezo's can stop working if they get too hot.

Basically a soldered lead , 1 goes directly on the wafer, the other to the brass base the wafer is bonded to ..
I have a couple DIY piezos from Musix that was what I did ..

they work .. I made them stick on with a 1/4 " inline jack..

Thanks everyone. Yeah, mandroid, that's what I have figured out. Its just so dang small! I have the wires stripped and tinned and am ready to solder them in place. Just gotta get think it through 1,000 times so I don't overheat and/or make a mess. I can't believe how easily the wire popped off. In fact, in just looking at the other one to see how it was wired, one of those wires popped, also. So I'm redoing both. Not sure what my odds of success are, but I've learned something already.

Thank you, again everyone. I got everything stripped, tinned, and resoldered. Sealed the rubber covers in with some glue. Put everything back on the mando and it works as good as new.
