Hey Folks, As the original poster of this thread just wanted to say thanks to everyone who replied. I would have gotten back sooner but have been busy watching some fine documentaries about subjects I didn't even know I was interested in.
In my first post forgot to mention the Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice. Several have brought it up here. No matter what kind of music you like , you will like this one.

Tom Dowd and the Language of Music is a good one. He started back in the live to 2 track days and may be best known for the Derek and the Dominos Layla record--introduced Eric Clapton to Duane Allman as I remember.

"Bill Evans, Time Remembered" —if you like jazz and a truly tragic story of a brilliant player.

Seconding Jim’s recommendation about the Bill Evans doc, very good. I’ve watched it twice.
Seconding Nile’s recommendation about the Howlin Wolf, doc. Also, good. Who ever thought there would be a doc about Wolf. I was at the premiere in Chicago. Hubert & Sam Lay we’re in attendance.
I had previously recommended Two Trains Running, Blues doc. I’m seconding myself.
Another is Harlem Street Singer about Rev Gary Davis. Very Good.
There is a David Bromberg doc, don’t know if it was mentioned.

The Transatlantic Sessions have some great stuff on them - US and UK acoustic musicians holed up in various locales in Scotland, with Jerry Douglas and Aly Bain masterminding. Six volumes total.

Down from the Mountain - filmed concert at the Ryman with O Brother musicians featured.

    Mando content in both.
