What do y'all make of this one?

Proportions make me suspect it's more likely an octave mandolin, or possibly a mandola (?). Or am I just up too late?

Yeah, looks like an octave. The closeup of the headstock shows wound A strings.
Looks like it was a left handed instrument from the factory that is now strung righty. Wonder if the bridge saddle was replaced?
Have seen this one for sale before. Here it is - https://reverb.com/item/25240245-web...show_sold=true

The strap button on the wrong side of the heel would be a real annoyance.
17 inch scale so definitely a Mandola.
Thanks for that tip, it'll be here Monday.
Sure thing! If I bought it, it would be for resale, since I already have a nice mandola -- and pickwear like that makes resale tricky. But the GC price was right for someone who didn't mind the cosmetics and wanted it as a player.

Yeah I'll play it for a bit and pass it along myself. I called the store and asked him to check the scale length. They didn't quite what that meant...
I had one of these but in Rosewood in 1999 I think.
