    Default New Octave Mandolin Day

I've wanted one of these for quite some time and couldn't stop thinking about one, and now that I sprung for it, thrilled at the playability, sound, workmanship. YMMV.

    Looks good to me.

I should think you'll have seen this, played on something pretty similar.

that looks great! Custom with maple I guess? All of them I have seen in the flat top are walnut back and sides. Love mine!

I feel the same way about my archtop Northfield OM, it is quite a thing of beauty...

I may have to change my mind on what octave I'm jonesing after.

Here's the lowdown on the wood on this one, direct from Adrian:

Your octave was made with an old western Red Cedar Top and a very special set of figured silver maple from a log felled in our county. We call this wood “Michigan Koa” for its similar color, amber and reddish brown hues of mineral deposits and the very cool figure this log happened to have. We absolutely love this wood and have made everything from armrests to pickguards to slabbed furniture from it. Very unique.
