    Default OM Neck dimensions

    Hi Everyone. I drawing the plans for an Octave Mandolin. Got the body sussed, but I am wondering about the thickness of the neck - withoiut the fretboard. Any thoughts please?

    I have always made them the same as I would for a guitar. 18mm at the body end and around 15mm under the nut. Always allow al least 3mm under the truss-rod.

    Jez, I'm also planning to build an OM and have most of the dimensions in mind except depth. How deep is the body going to be on yours?

    Body depth is probably 65mm - possibly up to 75mm - I haven't decided yet. Front and back will be arched (carved) A style.
