Default New Doff Bowlback mandolin from Russia

FYI. Doff guitars just released their bowlback mandolin in Russia and offer it for US$300.00 inclusive of delivery anywhere in the world (NFI). They have a workshop in St. Petersburg and do make decent Russian 7 string, classical and acoustics guitars.

According to Alan, the company owner I have communicated with, they used a German bowlback as a prototype.

Interesting. Of course, it doesn't look much like recent German mandolins, but I could certainly imagine some inspiration from pre-WWII Markneukirchen.

It looks like it was modeled after a Catania made instrument. Not very German...but I prefer Italian designs anyway.
