    Default Second hand km172

Hi. What would you expect to pay for a mint second hand kentucky km172 in English pounds.
    Also are they any good?
    Thanks.

I don't know what the value of a Kentucky 172 would be, especially in English Pounds.

    "are they any good?"
If you like the sound of an oval hole mandolin,I think that they are a nice mandolin.
I have a Kentucky 171. The only difference is the finish. The 171 is a black topped mandolin. The 172 is a honey amber finish.
I like my 171 a lot. I play it more than any of my other instruments.

These are modeled off of the old Gibson oval holes, so they have a shorter neck.
The neck is thicker than my Kentucky 180, but I did not find the thicker neck hard to adapt to at all.
I don't know what the original string were that were on my 171, but they sure sounded funky.
I put silk & bronze string on and found the sound that I was looking for.

As you may know, 170 series of Kentucky mandolin is no longer made.
Kentucky replaced them with the 270 series - an oval hole with a longer neck.
