Default PETER GREEN (Fleetwood Mac) R.I.P. no manod

Of all the Brit guitar blues players (Beck, Clapton, Page, Gallagher, etc) of the late 60s - early 70s, Peter Green was the guy for me. The Peter Green/Danny Kirwan lineup of Fleetwood Mac was one of the killer twin lead guitar bands, equal to the original Allman Bros, Quicksilver Messenger Service etc.

If you want to hear that (5-piece) lineup at it's best, check out
FLEETWOOD MAC: Live at the Boston Tea Party (Vols. 1 & 2)

    THEN PLAY ON and
PETER GREEN'S FLEETWOOD MAC: Live at the BBC are also very good.

    Danny Kirwan is singing.

For me, that line up was preferable to the later poppy version that really hit it big. Santana later had a big hit with Green's "Black Magic Woman"; most people have never heard the Peter Green original version.

One of Peter Greens best early instrumentals with Mayall. "The Supernatural." Then you wonder where Carlos Santana got his sound? This is three years before Santana's first release of anything.

I actually got into PG through the backdoor; I started playing guitar in '79 or '80, and walking into my favorite record store, "Slabo Day" was on. I bought both "Little Dreamer" and "In the Skies" that day. The Fleetwood Mac stuff came a bit later for me, but I already loved him. I agree with @mandocrucian that the Green/Kirwan lineup was the business.

Although his '60s stuff is deeper, those two records have some good moments on them. "The Apostle", for instance is beautiful. Thank you, Peter.
