Default Fantastic David Grisman Quintet one mic recording

This is part of a series of recordings done with a one mic technique. This method produces very clean three dimensional recordings but requires impeccable musicianship. There is no repairing a mistake with a new track.

Great camera work as well. Given how much he was moving, I'm amazed it didn't pick up his movement on the microphone.

That was great, and I was stuck in that channel for quite a while.

    Thanks.

Has there ever been a better intro to a song? And the way David similarly ends the song but in reverse form . . . nothing short of inspired genius!

It always amazes me how these guys (and others) remember the arrangement to tunes like this. Lots of practice before performing, or do they just have that good of a brain and go over it a couple of times before performing?

Dawg,at 75 years of age,Matt Eakle, and Jim Kerwin have played together for many years in supergroups of the Dawg genre.

They are all sufficiently talented enough jazz cats to know how/when to improvise or,as noted in a Grisman tutorial "blow changes".
And to lay low when the guitar(poor basic design) and bass take their breaks;a necessary skill with one mic.

Love those mando chord progressions. That's "Crusher",yes? So good.

Matt Eakle's flute adds a great dimension to this music.
