Thread: Weymann Model 85

    Default Weymann Model 85

Been wanting a Banjolin for a while & finally got one! Problem is that the seller didn't state the condition of the Bridge! Not completely disappointed but would like to know the direction to head now.
May noty be a big deal but if any other Weymann owners can give a recommendation it would be appreciated!!

    Thanks in advance!!

I have a style 25, the one with a very small head. Attached is the original bridge from that one with measurements.

I see this Model 85 on Reverb with what looks like the same compensated bridge. Perhaps you could make a repro bridge for yours.

The seller is willing to refund the cost of a new bridge so after reading as much as I could I found a replacement at Elderly. I should have it soon and hopefully will be able to make a repro from your pics!

The bridge you have is a typical banjo bridge. Elderly will be sending you a similar banjo bridge. If you want a repro bridge start from scratch. You won't be able to make a bridge like Jim pictured from a banjo bridge.

Turns out there was more wrong with it than just the bridge, the Tailpiece is also damaged. I am getting a full refund and will have to start over looking for one of these

The Reverb seller I linked to above just reduced the price and is accepting offers. That one looks pretty good to me.

Frankly the only MB I can stand to play is my little Weymann 25. I have a skin head on it to mellow it a bit. Some of the larger ones have too many overtones. I have never played a style 85 though.
