    Default Irish Mandolin Recordings

Back in April I started a thread about Irish tenor banjo music and added a bunch of great music to the library from all the suggestions. So I thought it would be fun to do one for Irish mandolin music as well. Below are some that I already have and enjoy. What else is out there? Especially newer stuff....

Three Mile Stone -- Marla Fibish on mandolin, also have her solo work
The Rocky Road -- Michael Kerry
    Dan Beimborn's two albums
Springwell, Dorney Rock, Polbain to Oranmore -- Kevin Macleod
Like Father, Like Son -- Dagger Gordon
Irish Music for Mandolin -- Kevin McElroy
Dragon Reels -- Roger Landes, mostly octave/zouk as I recall
The Green Mandolin -- David Surette
A Mandolin Album -- Paul Kelly
Mando Lore -- Brian Taheny and Andrew Collins, Irish tunes with American fiddle tunes
We Banjo 3 has mandolin on all of their stuff

Great idea! Bear in mind, though, that Dagger Gordon is Scottish, not Irish.

Planxty also feature mandolin on several of their albums. Sweeney's Men also used the mandolin.

There's also Niilo Sirola with Irish Tunes on Mandolin and Banjo.

Marla's solo work was mentioned but I want to highlight A Bright Hollow Fog. It's very mando-centric and recommended. Perfect breakfast music.

I also enjoyed Mick Moloney's mando work with Green Fields of America and others.

Dagger Gordon and Kevin MacLeod are both Scottish players though Kevin played a lot with Alex Finn, the late bouzouki player.

I replied to you on the facebook page as well, but just for everyone's benefit here. Dervish has Brian McDonagh on the mandola and Michael Holmes on bouzouki, and their interplay is at the heart of Dervish's sound. They both switch from tunes to accompaniment fairly seamlessly. Also, Mooncoin's self-titled album.
