mandolin - after surgery to remove extended fingerboard

Looks better to me this way and sounds the same. The long extended fingerboard had no frets, so why keep it?

I still don't get why it's there in the first place - can't really play up there unless you're after some weird special effects. I'll eventually have it scooped out on my KM1000; the fret ends on it are still a bit sharp and it's actually eating into my Bluechip pick...

Those frets are for playing classical mandolin pieces; as you know, for most other music no one seems to use them much.
