Thread: Restringing a TC Octave Mando

Default Restringing a TC Octave Mando

Help! Just received my TC OM and it needs new strings. The only way I can see how to replace the strings is to remove the tailpiece. This does not make sense. Is the tailpiece hinged, does it slide off or is there some other magic that needs to be performed to change the strings?

    Thanks in advance.

Traditional Gibson style tailpiece has a cover that slides off away from the instrument.

The tailpiece cover on my TC octave was very difficult to remove. In the video I posted above a coin is used, but you can also use a cloth or something that allows you to apply pressure to both sides of the cover at the same time without cutting your hands on the edges.
