    Default New Mando.........No Joy.

    I just purchased a $7000.00 mando from a reputable dealer. It was handmade by a well known mandolin builder which is frequently mentioned on this board. When I unpacked the mando, much to my surprise I found what appear to be marks on the back under the varnish. I really don’t think that these marks are naturally occurring in the maple. Attached are a couple of photos. What do you think?

    I agree they look to be "above" the natural wood

    but how does it sound?

    at that $ I would expect them to allow and exchange or return or something.

    Did you see photos of the mandolin before purchase and were these "marks" there?
