Thread: Colouring spruce tops, esp sunburst.

Default Colouring spruce tops, esp sunburst.

I've discovered I'm going to have to dye the back and sides of my current project because the colour of the wood I've used for the sides and back clashes horribly with the neck and headstock.
That being the case I wonder about colouring the spruce soundboard, maybe even a sunburst, but spruce treated that way seems very rare. Can anyone comment on that, or alternatively post some pics of successfully coloured spruce tops?

The vast majority of carved, arched mandolins have colored spruce tops and most of them are sunburst. For pictures, simply go to the builders section and you can see very many sunburst mandolin tops.

Thanks, must have been blinded by all that (wonderful) flamed or quilted maple.
