Default Nylon GDAE tuning for an 8 string Baritone Ukulele

    Good morning all,

I am looking to re-string an 8 string Baritone Uke, (scale length aprox 21") with nylon strings to GDAE as I am now tending to use my Mandolin more and more and this could be
a fairly natural step for me as I currently have a S/S Tenor Banjo and a newly acquired Octave Mandola also both tuned GDAE

The instrumental will be use mainly for chordal strumming.

I am finding it difficult to swop between Ukulele chords and Mandolin chords so am looking to perhaps concentrate more on the GDAE tuning.

Does anyone have any suggestions for string thicknesses/specs?

I am aware that I can get short-scale nylon tenor banjo strings, but am looking for any other suggestions...................

    Many thanks

I use nylon guitar strings to get CGDA on my baritone Uke (same scale as yours).

I never tried GDAE but I think it's possible.

These have a high tension and feel great.

    mandolin/soprano scale I used 3 from Martin's baritone Uke sets & 1 from the soprano sets ..

I'm OK with FCGD tuning ..
