Lately I’ve been working up more and more of my repertoire on the octave mando, switching songs from guitar and tenor banjo backup. It’s a stock Trinity College which I’ve beeen neglecting for years. Until last fall when I decided to go with octave pairs on the G and D. Gives it a great chimey sound, I find. The unison bass just sounded thuddy when played by me (as opposed to Donal Lunny et al who get something I don’t get...)
