Default The Best of times; the worst of times.

Hi all. I’ve been a member of the forum since 2006. Before June of 2006 I’d never touched a mandolin. The Café quickly became a main part of my daily life.

Scott Tichenor, Mike Edgerton, John Hamlett (sunburst), sblock, and some others became (unbeknownst to them) mentors for me because of their clear thinking input on so many topics over the years. I thank you all.
I’m sure that I’m leaving out many others here who have helped to educate me in various ways through the years. Please know that I appreciate you too.

Health issues have recurred and, since February, I find myself in the terminal stages of a recurrent pancreatic tumor (“cured” in 2003). I’ll be checking in for a while longer, but will likely be decreasing my participation.

The Café becomes somewhat like a second family, and I just wanted to share the information with you. Honestly, it’s been a very nice trip with you all.

    Thanks to you all.
Be safe. Be kind. Be happy.
    Phil

Hi Phil, I have enjoyed hearing/reading what you have to say over the years. I'm hoping and I'll be praying that you're here for a long time to come. Stay strong and try to take it a day at a time.

    Best wishes,

Even though your news is hard, thank you for sharing it with us. Your strength is obvious.

As I typed the preceding, a few lines of a gospel tune came into my head -- "... keep you hand upon the throttle, and your eye upon the rail." That works.
