Thread: Sultans of Swing tab

    Default Sultans of Swing tab

Would like to work on this song. Does anyone know/have the tablature?
I’m a very intermediate player. Kinda like Guitar George in the song.
    TIA!

I thought that Guitar George was a relatively advanced player – "he knows all the chords".

That would make him an intermediate player.

Nothing wrong with that. Harry is the lead, and has 6 PRS's to prove it. Probably seven, since it's the start of a new month.

This is a cool video if you know guitar but of course the chords are same. Have to figure out riffs they are basically arpeggios. I’ve always liked this song and cool one to play.

    Mandozine.com has it.

Now if I could figure out the opening guitar to Money for Nothing, I’d be quite happy. I’ve been struggling with it for about 2 months.

    Good luck

Pretty much have the chords(Dm>C>A#, etc.), but if I could see some tab I’d like to try to give it a go. I’m a visual, rather than aural learner. Terrible ear.

Mandozine.com has it, click on Practice Tunes, then on the left click on Tab|edit, then in the search field type in Sultans of Swing

If you're like Guitar George, the rhythm playing shouldn't be much of a hill. The lead, though - if you can play the lead through like Stangeland tabbed it out at Mandozine, then (1) you're good, (2) you're probably playing a four string electric axe, (3) hat's off to you.

Nope. Not electric at all. Rigel R100.
I really only play rhythm. Wish I knew ALL the chords. Never picked a melody or break.
    Wouldn’t mind trying this, though.
I do practice the tab for Hector the Hero.

Since you say you have a horrible ear and you've never picked out a melody start with something more straightforward like Happy Birthday or Mary had a little lamb, twinkle twinkle little star. Yes, it seems obviously simple but give it a go in different keys - heck you don't even have to know the notes just start and you'll know when you've hit a wrong note. Picking out a familiar melody will begin to train yourself to hear the notes.
