    Default Bill’s Dream socially distanced

Hey all, my friend Colin put together this video of us playing “Bill’s Dream” by Bill Monroe. The guitar player recorded a backing track and we all recorded our parts with just our cell and then Colin (the banjo player) put it all together.

    Hope you enjoy!

Nice job! I particularly liked what I’ll call the “quarantine haircuts”.

Thanks! Enjoyed your recording a lot!

Sounds simple (record backing track, each player plays along with the backing track, calculates where the break comes in, sends the recording to the banjo player) till you get to the "put it together"! How's that accomplished?

Rush, yup. Guitarist recorded the backing track going through the tunes seven times so we each got 2 breaks each and then shared the last break. I thought the banjo player was playing the melody with me on the last break so I figured thr harmony part out but he didn’t do it! 😆

Really great playing, Rob! I enjoyed that a lot. You have a fine band there to pick with too.

Thanks, Don! I kinda wish I just did regular chops on the guitarists’ breaks as I was trying to play as quet as possible since he is usually the quietest but it didn’t seem to matter too much. Super fun working on a tune that I have known for years but went back and really tried to pull something new and add some new licks to it. Thanks again!

Thanks Rob, that was pretty cool!
I’m missing picking with my buddies but, one had back surgery just before the whole covid misery so, it was several months before he had the sawbones project since he could even hold his guitar! Going on eight months since we’ve all made music and enjoyed a beverage together!
Getting old is not for the rookies, not sure it’s any better for older folks but, it does beat the alternative!
