I bought a new Kimble two point in late 2019. First new higher end instrument I have ever owned. Great build quality, incredible playability, and all the tone I could hope for. Will was also very responsive and kind when I contacted him with a few questions. Couldn’t be happier with my purchase!

My Kimble 2-Point, built in 2010, elicits joy every time I pick it up. I’ve owned it for a little over a year. There is something about it that feels just right. I can’t imagine ever parting with it.

I have played four or five of these, and not one is a disappointment. I have NBs on mine now and it's lethal.

Excellent mandolins. Top notch artistry. Consistent and bell like up and down the neck. Great value. As someone who has owned seven Kimbles, I can’t extol them enoug

Intrigued as to why somebody would have owned seven Kimbles? I assume you don’t still own seven of them (I only have two) but what was wrong with the ones you no longer own?

I’ve owned 6.....an oval A, two A5s, an A-style mandola, an earlier Englemann topped F5, and my keeper F5 #153. Had it for about 5 years now. Some of them I bought. A few I took in trade on other instruments I was selling. Catch and release has enabled me to experience a lot of really fine instruments. Should have kept that oval though.....

I'm with Shaun. Once I became a fan of Will's work it has always been about playing as many of his instruments as possible to see if there's one I liked better than the one I had. A bit obsessive sure, but guess what? The three Kimbles I own now (2-point mandolin, F5 mandolin and a two-point mandola) are the best I've ever owned. There's always gonna be something out there you might like better, but all my experience with Kimble instruments has brought me to where I am right now... and it is a blissful place.

I only know of one oval two pointer. Made to resemble Jethro’s two point. It’s a great mandolin. There could be others. He made 2-3 F4s and a larger number of oval A models. Will quit making ovals 7-8+ years ago.

I've had two or three of Will's two-points over the years. I am more of a pianist / guitar player than a mandolin player, but I have a hard time imagining anybody being able to do anything better at his price point. I recorded a couple things last night with one of his more recent builds. They're linked below.

Of all the instruments (of all types) that have entered and left my house over the last 15 years, there are only three or four that I truly regret selling. At the top of the list is a Kimble mandola. If anybody has one and has grown to hate it, let me know ...

Lovely tunes, well played. That mando has the Kimble mojo, for sure!

Ive played 2 two point kimbles . One was at the music emporium where i bought my A style .
I might have gotten the two point but it had sold by the time i could acquire a kimble.
Honestly i was happy getting either.

The other i got to play was at joe val.
Mr and a friend mine traded for about an hour picking monroe tunes
    We had a blast.

I think his two point was a 2010
It sounded amazing. It was really broken in.
Mine is a 2017 the tone was amazingly similar. I cant wait to have mine broken in like his .
Its getting there . I was impressed with the consistency of his instruments.
People say the have a loar tone whatever that really means
Ive played a couple loars and they all sounded different to me.

In my opinion with a grain of salt
Its a woody dry beautiful tone that has alot of punch when you need it.
Put a new set if string on and it will ring for days with character and depth.

The J that Obiwan is referencing is mine. I have been lucky to own it since I purchased it from Will in 2010. Serial number 180.Has gone to work with me nearly every day since then! (I teach private lessons). Played countless gigs. Etc..I feel kind of naked without it.it’s kind of ridiculous.I just love the thing. I have played quite a few other Kimbles and they have all been awesome. As Obiwan says they are very similar across the board. Every one has been different of course when a/b-ed, but never drastically so. The only exception is one in the 30s serial numbers. I’ve played it several times. Will’s older voicing. Still amazing. Just more bass. Maybe like a dryer Ellis. It’s been a long time since I played it though... so just going on memory.

I just got a J Style last week and I can’t put it down. It’s a great mandolin and kicks my Northfield in the a$$
I had to buy it without ever playing a Kimble but it was definitely not a mistake!

Glad to hear you got a Kimble Markus... am very happy that worked out for you. If you're loving it now wait till you've been playing it a year or two... everything will just get better and bolder! Play on!

Hopefully you see this! Mike Compton told me that there is a 2 point oval Kimble in Ohio that is unreal. I think that it was back in 2011 or 2012 but he told me this.

I was lucky enough to acquire one of Will's two points in the most recent batch. It's blonde-ish, with beautiful dark binding, and it sounds phenomenal.
