    Default Help with TEFView

Trying out some TEF files from the site. In playback, TEFView wants to default to an Oboe sound. If I change it to another instrument with "MIDI Options", it plays that instrument until the end of the song, and then reverts back to Oboe. Is there a way to set a default?

I have the full TablEdit. Do you have a MIDI menu? In my MIDI menu, the last choice is Midi Options and you can choose what instrument you want to play back.

I have the free TEFView. Yes, I have that menu and I can select another instrument, but after the current song ends it reverts back to Oboe

Does it happen for every *.tef file that you open, or just for this one? This particular file may have been saved with "oboe" as the preferred instrument, so the program is just reloading the saved parameters. If so, you will need to change the preferred instrument and then save the file once again, which will change the default for this tune. This is very easy to do with TableEdit, but I don't know if the viewer (TefView) will allow you to save a file. I'd suggest getting the TablEdit program -- it's well worth it, IMO!

You have something against oboes? If you want to send me the file, I'll see if I can reset it and save it if you can't.

You nailed it. It is specific to that file. I loaded some other files and they did not act this way.
