That looks and sounds wonderful, Gary. Fantastic work.
Paul Shippey has been making a range of flat-top, carved back mandolins and bouzoukis in the UK for a while now and I have been tempted by them. He calls them 'the axe' and some pros have been buying them. Does your version take a different path? It certainly looks and sounds great.

What do you recognize as differences in tone and sound between the flat and arched back models?

“Sharps/Flats” ≠ “Accidentals”
Another good one Gary, you should try a flat back arched front for comparison, I have heard one or two of those that were very good sounding instruments too.

Wot no catchphrase?
Great video, great playing by Robin and superb building by yourself, Gary. You must be so delighted with the sound this instrument is creating.
Re trouble in posting videos. I too am UK based (Scotland) and I have found that it is better to Go Advanced to post a video, and to include only that part of the url to the right of, but excluding, the "/". The other wee idiosyncracy I find is that when I put up a video on YouTube if I then go straight to the Cafe site to post on the SAW group, it sometimes does not load and gives an error message. I have found that if I wait a while then post the link to the SAW group it works.
I'm playing all the right notes, but not necessarily in the right order. - Eric Morecambe

Always a difficult question, as all my mandolins tend to go straight out of the door and I never have two around for a comparison. This one; my initial thoughts were, maybe a tad louder and great A strings. I guess I should ask Robin as he now has two of mine.
Cheers Gary
