I imagine this may have been discussed here some time in the past. It looks to me as the tuners are "worm over" that they are not the originals which one would imagine might have been a little fancier.

Here is a bowl back from the same sort of era that was discussed here a few years ago. Interestingly, the tuners- which are a little more elegant, are also worm over, so the tuners in the flat back may well be original.

I'm a bit surprised at the price: I'd have thought an original by Stathopoulous might have reached five or even ten thousand? But there you are... (it's still out of my range)

Lovely! Like all the Epiphone mandolins before Gibson bought the company.

Though very different from later Epiphone-labelled ones pre-Gibson.

Yes, this was discussed in this thread.

Seems like this one changes hands every few years. It was at Retrofret on ebay, then Noah Miller's site, now eBay again.

It is not the only flattop mandolin that AS made. There is this one made in 1913 and discussed on this thread. It is also pictured in the Fisch/Fred Epiphone book on page C-4. Label photo is from Epi book.

Price has gone down considerably for this mandolin to $1250. BTW here are some photos for after the listing disappears.

    It's very pretty.
It ain't gotta be perfect, as long as it's perfect enough!
